Netflix started out by offering only online DVD rentals. The company has since began experimenting with allowing users to rent movies online and watch them streaming on their computers instantly.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Netflix account
  • Minimum CPU requirements for Netflix
  1. Step 1

Having a Netflix-compatible computer is the first step toward streaming movies onto your PC. The basic requirements are a PC with Windows and a steady Internet connection, preferably high-speed. You also need 3 GB of storage on your hard drive and 512 MB of RAM for it to function properly. You must register on Netflix.com to start your membership. You can get a free trial membership that lasts for two weeks to see if it is right for you.

  2. Step 2

Downloading a quick file will allow you to download Netflix videos in the future. That file will appear once you have registered with Netflix. This file will allow movies to stream onto your computer and only takes a minute to download. Once you have that program installed, it can take as little as 30 seconds to begin to see streaming videos from Netflix.com.

  3. Step 3

Watching a movie instantly on your PC is as simple as the click of the mouse, making it more convenient, although the online library is smaller at 12,000 titles. The DVD library has more than 100,000 titles.

  4. Step 4

Having problems? Call the Netflix customer support at (866) 579-7112. They are open 24 hours a day.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure your PC is compatible with the Netflix program, otherwise you will not be able to watch movies online.
  • Netflix online movies don't stream to Macs.
