Use the Shettles Method. Dr. Shettles believed that sperm-carrying Y chromosomes (male) travel faster than the X chromosomes (female). He believed that to have a baby boy, it is important not to have sex for more than 12 hours after a woman ovulates. He also felt it was important not to have sex more than 24 hours before a woman ovulates. Finally, Shettles believed that deep penetration is also favorable if trying for a boy. This will ensure the sperm is closer to the cervix, and Shettles believed that the more aggressive Y chromosome-carrying sperm will have a better chance of fertilizing the woman's egg.

Use the Whelan Method. Dr. Whelan believed that timing played a huge part in determining the sex of the child. Whelan said using her method will produce a male child at least 68% of the time, which is a higher percentage than caused by nature. Whelan says it is important to have sex early in a woman's monthly cycle.
