1
Stay away from caffeine and sugar. They will only increase your energy, therefore making you even more jumpy and nervous. Water is the best choice when you are feeling anxious. It's cooling and relaxing. If you're a coffee, soda or tea drinker, try to put off drinking any until you have dealt with the situation at hand. If you feel you cannot part with it, drink it in moderation.

2
Use up any excess energy you may have built up. Pace around your office. Organize your work space. Do something productive while you release your energy. You'll get more done that way.

3
Focus on the goal. Whatever the situation that has your nerves on end, you need to think of seeing it through to completion. Planning is the best way to keep your mind on track. The more you plan, the less you have to be nervous about.

Take a break. No matter what you are doing, you can find a way to interrupt the mounting stress. If the high-pressure situation that makes you nervous is giving a speech, plan on showing a video in the middle to give yourself a break. It doesn't have to be very long--just long enough to pull yourself back together.

5
Get some fresh air. It can work wonders just to walk out of a building and into the elements. Even if you only have a few minutes to spare, it behooves you to grab some oxygen and think about something else.

Be around at least one person you are comfortable with. Having a friend around is a great way to relieve the stress of any situation. It doesn't have to be a close friend; anyone you get along with can work. Try focusing on that person when you need a break or if you want to relax.
