Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hard candy
  • Taper candles
  • Canning jars
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1
While some people like the look of unwrapped candies in this type of candle, it is more practical to use individually wrapped pieces so that melting wax does not spoil the treats.

Fill a canning jar halfway with hard candy. If you are making the candles for Christmas, you should use Christmas or holiday candy. You can make these for any season or just use pretty colored hard candy for a candle you can leave out all year.

  2. Step 2

Wedge a taper candle into the middle of the candy. It should stand straight up with the bottom of the candle touching the bottom of the jar. The candy should be high enough in the jar to hold the candle firmly in place. If you do not think the candle is securely upright, add more candy to the jar once the candle is in place.

  3. Step 3

Tie a ribbon in a bow around the top of the jar. You can use craft ribbon in any color or seasonal ribbon, and make the bow large or small as you prefer. Larger bows look more festive, but thinner ribbon is easier for small hands to tie.

Tips & Warnings
  • Tie small jingle bells to the ends of the ribbon on holiday candles.
  • You may wish to include a bag of candy to refill the candle with when you send the craft as a gift.
