Book clubs are an excellent resource for people who want books delivered directly to their door. In today’s book market, you can find book clubs for every genre of book and you can join these clubs online. For those who prefer or need large-print books, registering online for a large-print book club opens up a larger selection than you can find in bookstores.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Compare the different book clubs available online to see which option you prefer. Doubleday Large Print Book Club is the only book club specific to large print, but many other book clubs have large-print book selections. The All Bookstores website (see Resources) offers a comparison for the various online book clubs.

  2. Step 2

Go to Doubleday Large Print Book Club’s website (see Resources). Click on the “Find Out More” button to access the three steps to join.

  3. Step 3

After reading “About the Club” (a tab across the top of the webpage), complete Step 1: “Choose Your Books.” Choose the “Browse” tab to select the books you wish as your first selections. When you choose a book, click on it to open a new page with a review of the book and its regular club price. Click “Add to Cart” (the button with a shopping cart icon). You will see the books you choose in a “Shopping Cart” in the upper righthand corner of the screen.

  4. Step 4

When you have chosen the five selections to begin your enrollment, you will be directed to click the “Finish Enrollment” button. Double-check the books you have selected to be sure these are the books you want at the special introductory price. This is also the chance to get an extra book for a low cost (though not the introductory price). This book will mean you are obligated to buy fewer books at the regular club price. Click the “Special Offer” button to buy the extra book at a lower cost.

  5. Step 5

Complete Step 2: Billing Address. You have the option to receive book club communication information by email or by postal mail.

  6. Step 6

Complete Step 3: Payment/Shipping information. Enter the credit card you would like to have billed for your selections.

  7. Step 7

You are now registered for an online large-print book club and may use the club’s website and services.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consider a book rental book club or a free book exchange. BooksFree Paperback Book Rental Club makes an unlimited number of books available each month for a monthly fee. After reading, you send the books back. With Paper Back Swap, members trade books for free, with the book recipient paying shipping. These options are especially beneficial for avid readers who wish to keep costs low.
  • Read the book purchasing requirements before registering for any online book club. Most clubs require a certain number of book purchases at regular price before the membership obligation is met.
