Here's a fun way to get your bookworms out playing in the fresh air and sunshine. Combine tag and reading and you'll have your little reader working up a healthy appetite. Have your kids gather up their favorite paperback book and send them out into the yard for this fun outdoor game.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Have each player bring their favorite paperback book.

  2. Step 2

Designate a part of the yard that is the "library."

  3. Step 3

The person who is "It" chases around the other kids, who are carrying their books. If they are tagged, they have to go to the "library," where they sit and read their books.

  4. Step 4

To keep from being tagged, a player can stop, stand still and read out loud. The person who is "It" can't tag them as long as they are reading out loud and standing still.

  5. Step 5

Players should try to run to the library and "free" a player who has been tagged and is stuck there. By swapping books, the player is free again.

  6. Step 6

The last player who is tagged is "It."
