Things You'll Need:
- IPhone Running v2.0+
- ISP’s mail settings
-
Step 1
Select the “Settings” option from the main screen. Choose the “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” feature, near the bottom of the screen.
-
Step 2
Press the “Add Account” option. Next, you will be asked to choose either "Microsoft Exchange account", "Mobile Me", "Gmail", "Yahoo! Mail", "AOL mail" or "Other". Since you want to set up a new mail account in order to check your ISP’s mail, choose “Other”.
-
Step 3
Enter your name and email address, as well as a password and brief description of the account. Click on the “Save” button.
-
Step 4
Wait for your iPhone to verify that the account information has been entered correctly. You will then be brought back to the "Accounts" screen. Select your newly created account from the list.
-
Step 5
Scroll down to enter the "Outgoing Mail Server" information. Due to security features used by ISPs, AT&T has created a universal SMTP (a type of outgoing mail server) that iPhone owners can use to send mail from an iPhone while on a 3G or Edge network.
-
Step 6
Select the “SMTP” option. From the next screen, choose the AT&T SMTP Server option. You will need to choose “ON” in order to activate the service. To deactivate, simply click on the “OFF” option.
-
Step 7
Click the “SMTP” button near the top of your iPhone display to return to the previous screen. You have now successfully created a new mail account on your iPhone.
