How to Make a Scrapbook Sketch Book

Sketches for potential scrapbook layouts can be a guide for one of your next pages. You can get ideas when looking at online, book or magazine layouts. When you see borders, background and mat shapes that appeal to you, sketch them out for future reference. A scrapbook sketchbook is an ideal way to contain your ideas and those you "scraplift" from favorite layouts you have admired.

Things You'll Need

• Binder with interior cover pocket
• Card stock
• Section dividers
• Plain white copy or sketching paper
• Page protectors

Instructions

1. Select and buy a binder in a size that will work for you. Small binders work well for your purse or scrapbook tote. A large binder will fit on the shelves of your work area. Buy copy or sketch paper in binder size.

2. 

   Make or purchase section dividers for binder. Label them: "My Original Sketches," "Scraplifted Sketches," "(Name of scrapping author or artist) sketches" or whatever works for you. Place in binder.

3. Punch holes in a piece of card stock to make it fit into the front of the binder. Write your index of sections on it.

4. Punch holes in new sketch papers and file into your binder or use page protectors, if desired.

5. 

   Put two sketch pages back to back in one protector, then place in binder. The standard 8-by-10 1/2-inch binder, protectors and papers work best for this.

Tips & Warnings

• You can place scrapbook lessons in your sketchbook binder in a back section.

• Date your original sketches when you design them.
