Prepare for the groin kick in a fighting stance. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and your kicking leg one step back. Raise your arms in front of you with clenched fists. Bounce lightly on the balls of your feet.

Gauge your distance from the target. It is vital that you know exactly how far you can reach with a groin kick. If you are just a few inches too close or too far, you will miss your target.

Start your kick by driving the knee of your kicking leg forward. This is the leg that was behind in the fighting stance. Thrust the knee forward like you intend to strike with the knee.

Snap your lower leg out at the knee. Do this at the moment your thigh is parallel to the ground. Imagine that your knee is a hinge and your lower leg is a door slamming shut. As you kick, lean slightly back with your upper body. This provides a counter balance for your extended leg.

Practice doing the kick in one fluid motion with perfect balance. Your kicking leg should smoothly slide forward with your joints at the hip, knee and ankle moving together in perfect harmony. You should be able to stand without wobbling throughout the entire groin kick.
You can seriously injure someone if you kick them in the groin. Do not do it unless you are defending yourself from a real life attack. Even a soft impact with a groin kick hurts a lot--just ask anyone who has felt it.
