Fleas in your carpet? This simple trick will help you get fleas in even the shaggiest of carpets.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Baking Soda
  • Ordinary Table Salt
  • Vacuum Cleaner
  • At Least Three Hours
  1. Step 1

Mix equal amounts of baking soda and salt. Plain table salt works the best. You may wish to mix more than you think you will need.

  2. Step 2

Sprinkle your mixture all over your carpets, working in in with your feet as you go. This also helps remove some carpet smells, added bonus!

  3. Step 3

Let sit at least three hours, or overnight if possible. Allowing for longer time will get rid of as many fleas as possible.

  4. Step 4

Vacuum carpet thoroughly, going over each area repeatedly to remove all of your powdered mixture. Empty canister or bag as needed.

  5. Step 5

Some eggs may still be in carpet, even two can cause a future problem, so repeat process two or three times about every other day as necessary.

  6. Step 6

Keep fleas from entering your home by treating with a proper method for outdoors.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use slightly less salt if you live in a humid area, salt attracts moisture, and moisture may make your carpets musky smelling.
  • Carpets with higher pile (shaggier) will need a lot more to work the powder in.
  • Empty your canister, or change your bag immediately after vacuuming to be sure you don't have any lingering live fleas hanging out in there.
  • PLEASE ALLOW A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN TO HANDLE ANY SEVERE INFESTATIONS.
