Things You'll Need:
- Computer with internet connection
- Telephone
-
Step 1
Complete an initial online screening application so the company can determine if they are interested in you. At this time they may request your resume and a job application. Prior to beginning the application process make sure you have a resume with your work history and education that you can upload to the system and/or use to fill out the application.
-
Step 2
Take the multiple choice test most companies will give you, to see how you would react in different situations. Remember Work at Home companies want responsible, reliable representatives who are curteous. They are not looking for people who will talk back to the boss, tell they customer they are wrong (even if they are) etc. So keep this in mind if you are given this type of test.
-
Step 3
Know the name of your processor, speed, amount of RAM, screen resolution, windows version, browser, antivirus program, free space and spyware program. You will most likely be asked for this information to see if it meets company specifications.
-
Step 4
Be prepared to pass a background/credit check. Poor credit will prevent you from being accepted for the position. Some legitimate companies do charge for the check about $35.00. You may be asked if you are willing to pass a drug test depending on the Call Center client you are going to be working for.
-
Step 5
Take an online assessment test. You may listen to someone order items and type in this information in the data fields given. And/or you may search for answers regarding credit. Though these are timed tests do not get discouraged. Complete as much of the test as you can as accurately as you can.
-
Step 6
Practice speaking clearly on the phone. A voice audition is usually a requirement. These are often done without a live representative on the other end. You speak your answers into the phone and they listen and evaluate later. You are often given the questions in advance so you have time to think of your answers. Remember to speak in a professional, relaxed manner. One typical question is why do you want to join "Company X"? Try to sound confident and at ease on the phone, if you mess up just keep going.
-
Step 7
Read my eHow article; "How to Interview for a Work at Home Job for a Call Center" http://www.ehow.com/how_4493054_work-home-job-call-center.html if you are selected for a live interview.

on 3/13/2009 Well I must say this was very well written. In my experience, many call center positions are fairly similar in the customer service dept. When applying to call center jobs, be honest and open. Be flexible and allow your prospective employer to explore your experience which could be an asset for their company.JennThey're Accepting Applicationshttp://www.document-do-it-yourself-service.com/jobs.html
