Things You'll Need:
- Computer with internet connection
- Telephone
-
Step 1
When the interviewer calls be sure you answer the phone promptly. Make sure your environment is totally quiet. Call Centers have a zero noise tolerance policy. Answer the phone in a friendly, professional manner.
-
Step 2
You will likely be asked about your computer system. You may be asked for: type of browser, name of your processor, processor speed, amount of RAM, windows version, screen resolution, space on hard drive and other questions about your computer.
-
Step 3
You will be asked about your phone service, type of phone etc. Though you do not need it for the interview you will be required to have a telephone and headset that meets or exceeds the companies requirements if you are hired for a Work At Home Call Center job. See my eHow article; "How to Select a Headset for a Work At Home Call Center Job".
http://www.ehow.com/how_4493022_work-home-call-center-job.html. -
Step 4
You will have to answer general questions such as why you feel you would make a good Work At Home Call Center representative. You will also be given role playing situations where you explain how you would handle situations. For example you may be asked, "What would you do if a customer demanded to speak to the supervisor immediately?". Or "Share a difficult situation you faced in another job and explain how you handled it."
-
Step 5
You may have to demonstrate your knowledge on the computer by opening several windows at one time, copying and pasting documents and searching for items. You may have to explain a basic understanding of shortcuts such as using the F (function) keys and/or Ctrl (control) keys.
-
Step 6
If the interviewer feels you are a good fit you will be asked about your availability. She/he will discuss the different Call Center openings; what they have available, what is likely to open soon. These positions may range from explaining office products, to taking clothing orders, to credit card work and more.
-
Step 7
If you ace the interview you may be told you are hired for a Work At Home Call Center position at the end of the interview. You will then either be matched with a Call Center position currently available or placed in a pending pool for a future position. Or you may get an email telling you your status a short time after the interview.
-
Step 8
If you are hired read my eHow article; "How to be Successful at a Work At Home Call Center Job"

on 1/2/2009 Yes this is very true. I've worked at home now for about 6 years and counting. They do ask many different questions when it comes to your pc. Every company I've interviewed with has been quite similar but very different. Just be sure to speak slowly and know your pc. Working at home you must have your pc up to date and ready for all know requirements. Being flexible while working at home makes for a better time.
