Strawberries marbled with white and milk chocolate

These are not your ordinary chocolate covered strawberries and bananas. Using white and milk chocolate will give these tasty treats a new look.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fresh Strawberries and/or Bananas
  • White Chocolate or White Candy Melts
  • Milk or Dark Chocolate or Candy Melts
  • (optional) Vegetable Shortening
  • Wax paper
  1. Step 1

In one bowl melt white candy melts. Use a double boiler method or microwave. I prefer to use the microwave on a low setting such as defrost in 30 second increments. Stir occasionally to make sure candy is melted thoroughly. Be careful not to overheat. If the brand of candy melts used is too thick after it has melted, add a small amount of vegetable shortening and blend well. I used a 1/4 tsp in 6 oz of this particular candy melt. Repeat the same steps for the milk chocolate candy.

  2. Step 2

Drizzle some of the milk chocolate into the bowl of white chocolate. Bananas can be hard to hold. Inserting a popsicle stick into the banana pieces will help. Strawberries are easier. Simply holding onto the leaves and dipping works well.

  3. Step 3

    Making the swirl

Dip the strawberry or banana into the white chocolate where the milk chocolate has been drizzled then remove the fruit in a twisting or swirling motion. Also try drizzling white chocolate into the milk chocolate for a different look.

Place fruit on wax paper until chocolate hardens and refrigerate. See tips below.

Tips & Warnings
  • It's best not to melt large amounts of chocolate at a time. The chocolate will start to thicken in the bowl and the marbling effect will not look as well.
  • If using real milk chocolate, do not use the microwave. Real chocolate is best melted in a double boiler so that it can be tempered.
  • Candy melts are a less expensive alternative and taste great too.
  • Candy colorants may also be used. For example, color melted white chocolate in one bowl pink or blue and the other bowl of white chocolate leave as is. Use same technique and these would be great for a baby shower!
  • Try freezing the chocolate dipped bananas
