How to complete a job application

You will learn how to fill out a job application completely.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Driver's license
  • Social Security Card
  • Past employment information
  • 3 Professional references
  • Black pen
  1. Step 1

    Make sure you have everything listed to complete the application process.
    Print your name in the order that the application states.
    Fill in the address, city, state, zip code, birthday,gender,social security number, and driver's license number.

  2. Step 2

    Read and mark yes or no to question boxes.

  3. Step 3

    Complete the education section. Write the name and location of high school, college/university, years completed, field of study, and degree as listed on the application. Do not leave any area blank.

  4. Step 4

    The employment section should be filled out completely. (Dates,wages, salary, telephone numbers etc.). If you've never worked fill in "N/A". When you answer "Reason for leaving" don't respond negatively. If you left a job due to poor wages, you can simply state that you accepted another job offer. Find a positive spin for this questions.

  5. Step 5

    Additional skills is where you can highlight other abilities relevant to the job. Always take advantage of this spot!

  6. Step 6

    Professional licenses are important and should be included when it applies to a particular job/career path.

  7. Step 7

    List professional references where indicated(name, address, occupation, and years known). They can be friends, former co-workers, or family

  8. Step 8

    Examine the application for completeness, read the fine print, and then sign and date.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be prepared. Have all past employment information with you. Refer to your resume.
  • Applications should be completed within 15 minutes.

on 6/20/2009 I used to own a daycare/preschool; we sold it in 2003. Incomplete and messy applications used to amaze me. Even though these people stated that they were interested in employment, their applications did not reflect their desires. All people seeking employment should read this article. Rating: 5*
