You will learn simple techniques that will help you ease through an interview.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dress appropriately
  • Resume
  • Dark folder
  1. Step 1

Most people are nervous when it comes to an interview. Don't be. This is the moment where you can show the employer why you are the best candidate for the job. First impressions matter. Make a good one.

  2. Step 2

Dress to impress. Suit and tie for men. Pants or dress suit for women. This style is appropriate for executive, management, and administrative positions.

Khaki pants/slacks and shirt for men. Slacks and blouse for women.
This is appropriate for a manufacturing, retail, and customer service positions.

    NO OPEN TOED SHOES!
It's unprofessional when interviewing for any job.

  3. Step 3

Be aware of your hygiene. Tie long hair back. Cover any existing tattoos. Remove any facial piercings. Do not smoke before an interview and ease up on the perfume or cologne.

  4. Step 4

Arrive at least 10 minutes before your interview.

  5. Step 5

Once you meet your interviewer, smile, shake hands, and remain standing until offered a seat. Sit comfortably not stiffly.

  6. Step 6

Once the interview starts, present the resume to them. It should be professional and printed on quality resume paper.

  7. Step 7

Be sure to answer all questions completely. Stay away from negative responses. It's okay to think before you speak, just don't take too long.
When it comes to salary, don't be afraid to negotiate, especially if you have experience.

  8. Step 8

After the interview, ask questions about the job. (Schedule flexibility, short or long term position, attendance policy, advancement opportunities etc.) ALWAYS have at least two questions.

  9. Step 9

Finally, smile, stand, give them a firm hand shake, and thank them for their time. Before you leave, you will know if the job is yours or if they are in the decision making process.
