If you've been dreaming of becoming a successful entrepreneur, you may find yourself in search of ideas for a home based business

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

What do you like to do? Consider your hobbies, talents, and personal interests. Do you like crafts? Are you good at teaching people new skills? Remember, the best home based business ideas are those that play to your unique strengths.

  2. Step 2

What does your community need? What types of businesses do you think would benefit the area in which you live? Does your town need a great catering service? Would working parents appreciate someone who could provide before and after school child care?

  3. Step 3

What type of business best fits in with your personal schedule? Ideally, your home based business should help you create a better work/life balance for yourself. For example, if you have small children at home, a daycare may be the ideal home based business because you'll have constant playmates available for your kids. However, a daycare may not be a good choice if you need to be available at periodic times to attend to an elderly relative's medical needs.

  4. Step 4

What types of businesses can be started using the equipment you already have? If you're like many aspiring entrepreneurs, you're probably on a tight budget. The best home based business ideas are those with minimal start up costs. For example, a freelance writer simply needs a computer, desk, and Internet connection to begin his or her business.
