1
Be proactive. The best way to keep the nozzle clean is to make sure it doesn’t clog. To do so, after use, hold the can upside down and spray out some paint. Wipe the nozzle clean if necessary. The can is ready to store.

2
Alternative prevention would be to place a safety pin into the nozzle opening before storing to keep the hole open for future use.

3
Store your can in the required climate. Paint can thicken or become too runny in various weather conditions, the pressure can also be altered. Make sure to read the can and store the paint as suggested.

4
Clean the nozzle. If the paint can you want to use is clogged, remove the plastic nozzle top from the can and soak it in paint thinner. Do not leave it soaking for a long period of time (two or three hours max), it can disintegrate.

5
Combine using the pin and paint thinner together to unclog and full nozzle. Afterward, spray some WD-40 through the nozzle to clear any loose debris you have created with the use of the pin.

6
Replace the nozzle. Check with your local hardware store to see if they carry additional nozzles. It has also been suggested that skateboard shops often carry a variety of different spray can nozzles.
