Changing the fuel filter is an easy inexpensive way to get more power and increased fuel efficiency from your Chevy truck.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Safety Googles
  • Gloves
  • Several Wrenches
  • Ramps
  1. Step 1

    Make sure you are on a flat surface and set one ramp in front of each front tire. Drive on the ramps and place the truck in park, also engage the parking brake and place something behind the rear wheels (a block of wood, brick, etc.).

  2. Step 2

    Remove the fuse for the fuel pump with the engine running, once the engine hase been cut off, disconnect the battery.

  3. Step 3

    The fuel filter is located on the driver's side, using the appropriate size wrench detach the filter from the fuel line.

  4. Step 4

    Install the new fuel filter using the same wrenches used to remove the old one.

  5. Step 5

    Once you are finished with the installation of the new filter, simply re-connect the battery, place the fuse your removed earlier and close the hood.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure the engine is cool.
  • Do not over tighten the filter, only tighten hand tight.
