Upload, convert and sell books saved as PDFs on Amazon.com. The retailer pays you royalties each month for copies of the book sold. To sell on Amazon, you don't have to be a published author or work with a publishing house. Amazon does not sell books directly in the PDF format. Amazon uses MobiPocket to make electronic books readable on the Kindle. The Kindle is an electronic book reader that displays books purchased from Amazon.

Open an Amazon.com account if you don't already if have one. If you already have an Amazon account, login to your account.

Scroll to the bottom of the Amazon.com website and click on "Self-Publish With Us." Scroll to sell in the Kindle store and select "Get Started." This takes you to the Amazon Digital Text Format homepage.

Click on "Bookshelf" and then "Add a New Title." Enter the book's title, description, author, language and optionally ISBN information. You do not have to have a ISBN number to publish a Kindle book. Find the file on your computer and upload it through the book content file section at the bottom of the page.

Press "Save and Continue" after the book finishes uploading.

Select either worldwide rights or local rights on the next page and then chose royalty options. For most books that don't contain public domain information, this is the 35 percent royalty option. Set a list price to sell the book. Agree to the terms and conditions and select "Save and Publish" to publish the book.
