Make sure this is really what you want to do. You are no better or worse a mom for keeping or not keeping a scrapbook for your baby. Scrapbooking can be as big or little of a project as you would like to make it. Don't let others' opinions affect you.

Once you've determined that this is what you want to do for yourself and your baby, determine exactly what you want to document. Just milestones? Daily life? Everything? Knowing your goal will help you remain focused.

    • 3

Do as much prep work for your scrapbook as possible before the baby arrives. Have pages decorated, ready and waiting for photos and journal entries. You'll be delighted at the array of baby-themed pages, stickers and other supplies available to scrapbookers.

Purchase -- or make -- a calendar with pages the same size as your scrapbook. Record baby's milestones on the calendar. This is such a simple way to scrapbook the "biggies" without going crazy with fancy pages. You can record everything in a pocket calendar and then update the scrapbook calendar when you have time.

    • 5

Take lots and lots of pictures. Pictures really do speak louder than words. Don't worry about journaling everything.

    • 6

Keep a running commentary going in a word processing document on your computer with things you want to remember about baby's first year. Print it off either monthly or at the end of the year, and add the journal entries to the appropriate scrapbook pages.

Write down the prices of commonly bought items -- like gas, milk and bread. Paste a postage stamp in the scrapbook. Record world events and famous people and movies that are popular around the baby's birthday.
