The Spice Girls are the most successful girl group of all time. Each member has a distinct and iconic look. In the '90s,the UK girl band celebrated international hit after hit. Baby, Ginger, Posh, Scary and Sporty were soon emulated by girls all over the world. If you're going to a costume party or simply want to dress up for Halloween, consider finding four other friends to spread the clear message of "girl power." Though the Spice Girls' fashion sense has undergone various changes over the years, their style was most iconic during their early performances in the late '90s. These costumes and style recommendations are from that era. Be one of five people who are willing to slip into the Spice Girls' platform shoes.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get the Baby Spice look. Cute-as-a-button Emma Bunton had long blond hair, so if necessary, get a blond wig. Style the hair into pigtails. Wear light makeup and remember to stick to pinks. Slip into a baby-doll dress with an empire waistline, preferably in pink, white or baby blue. White platform shoes are a must. Top off the outfit with a lollipop.

  2. Step 2

Get the Ginger Spice look. Geri Halliwell was also dubbed "Sexy Spice" for her revealing stage costumes. Of her over-the-top outfits, the most famous is the Union Jack dress she wore to the 1997 Brit Awards. Apply bright orange temporary color to your hair and make sure to sport bold, red bombshell lips. If you can't find or create a dress that is similar to her famous Union Jack outfit, consider purchasing a bright, short, attention-grabbing dress. Wear chunky vinyl platform boots.

  3. Step 3

Get the Posh Spice look. Before she became an international fashion icon and married a soccer superstar, Victoria Beckham was Victoria Adams. Early Posh began her reign as a fashionista with her famous little black dress that hit high above the knee and fit like a glove. She had shoulder-length, straight, black hair parted in the middle. Don't have the hair? Get a wig. As for makeup, Posh lined her upper and lower lids with black eyeliner. Her pouty lips were lined and a shade darker than her natural lip color. Unlike Baby, Ginger and Scary Spice, Posh wore black stiletto heels.

  4. Step 4

Get the Scary Spice look. Melanie Brown, or Mel B., had an aggressive, in-your-face style. She cultivated a sportier look, sometimes involving a bra top and cargo pants; but unlike Sporty Spice, she also had a diva-like side that came out in her short skirts and funky animal prints. The most important aspect to creating a Scary Spice costume is the hair. Untamed hair with wild curls is iconic. So, if your hair can't manage styling like Scary's, consider getting a wig. Platform boots are another important piece to finishing the look.

  5. Step 5

Get the Sporty Spice look. Melanie Chisholm, or Mel B., represents the athletic side of "girl power." Sporty Spice often wore her long brown hair in a high ponytail. Don't have the hair? Either get a wig or a clip-on hair extension. Sporty Spice's trademark outfit can be purchased at any athletic store. Find a bright sports bra, athletic pants and tennis shoes in order to get the Sporty look.

Tips & Warnings
  • Each Spice Girl had a style she stuck to. However, there's always room for variations in color and even specific outfit pieces. As long as you stick to the "basic look" of each Spice Girl, you'll still be able to be recognized.
