The long weekend and mild temperatures make Labor Day a popular time for parties. These tips will help you pull off your Labor Day party.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Plan Early -
Venues book up quickly for holiday weekend parties, so be sure to secure your settings as early as possible

  2. Step 2

    Mind Your Guests -
The three-day weekend may allow long distance guests to attend without taking time off, but remember that most people make Labor Day plans well in advance. Combine that with more expensive flights and accommodations and crowded roads and airports, and you've got a potentially nightmarish situation for your guests. Be sure to notify guests of your Labor Day event well in advance, and help them out by securing the room block at an affordable hotel. Consider doing some leg work to find cheaper airfare and alert your guests of potential deals.

  3. Step 3

    Tie it Together -
When it comes to theme parties, it's all in the details. Here are some ideas for your Labor Day event:
    - Add a picnic motif - such as flip flops, picnic baskets, or insects (cute ones - like ladybugs, dragonflies, or bumblebees) to your stationery or decor
    - Get Patriotic - Draping your event in red, white, and blue and other patriotic elements makes an obvious choice. The key is to be subtle and avoid turning an elegant affair into a gaudy tribute to old glory.
    - Go Casual - Labor Day parties lend themselves to casual decor and fare fitting of a backyard barbecue. Think checked tabl cloths, benches, and picnic tables.
