Things You'll Need:
- Volumizing gel or mousse
- Holding and shine spray
- Hair dryer
- Paddle brush
- Rounded bristle brush
- Large hair rollers
-
Step 1
Gently brush out wet hair following a shower and wrap in a towel to soak up excess moisture. Remove towel from hair and apply a quarter-sized dollop of volumizing gel or a walnut-sized dollop of volumizing mousse to damp but not dripping hair. Turn your head over and begin by massaging the volumizing agent into the roots. Apply the excess left on your hands to the rest of your hair.
-
Step 2
Begin blow drying using just your finger tips to shake out your hair. Your hair should be only slightly damp before you begin using the rounded bristle brush to run through chunks of your hair and curl it under. If your hair is too wet, the rounded brush stage of blow drying will be less effective in pumping up hair and maintaining hold.
-
Step 3
Separate 2 to 3 inch sections of hair to blow out separately, running the round brush from the roots to the tips and repeating to give the hair sections body and shape. Blow out sections of hair at the back of the head first, then move up to sections around the crown and finish by blowing out hair that frames your face.
-
Step 4
Set warm and dry hair sections with large sized hair rollers. Allowing hair to cool around these rollers will maintain the shape, amplify the body and reduce frizz. Leave rollers in for 10 to 20 minutes before removing them. Give hair a light run-through with a paddle brush upside down and then right side up.
-
Step 5
Spritz hair with a light holding spray to keep it under control throughout the day. Try a hair spray that also gives hair shine or spray on smoothing shine spray after the hold spray. Go light on either spray so as not to weigh down your hair.
