the challenging act of reducing phone solicitors on home and cell phones.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • patience
  • a few choice words
  • imagination
  1. Step 1

answer your phone and hope it is not a solicitor, but maybe a friend. yeah right, it's a 50/50 shot.

  2. Step 2

once you are over the disgust and anger, re-group and start your new found weapon to end or at least limit your calls. ( hanging up just re-circulates your phone number and name to be called on again.)

  3. Step 3

the key is to listen to what they want for at least 30 seconds and then politely give the answer they do not want to hear. example for health insurance you might say, i am out of work and can i get some insurance for about ten dollars a month. and when they so no, act surprised.

  4. Step 4

think about it, if they have no chance of making a sale they don't want to talk to you. tell them about hard times, tell them you can only afford a small amount due to low income and so on. ( any answer that is acceptable as real and an answer will show that they talked to you and you will come off their call list.)

  5. Step 5

another option is to tell them you are interested but due to lack of funds and overwhelming debt could they please call you back in 4 to 6 months. they will call you then and again give them a sad story about lack of funds but you are interested and if they could give you a couple of months. they are postponed and you are free from their calls for a while. actually it is fun, least you can get something out of your wasted time, enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • plan ahead
  • could be enjoyable for those with a sense of humor!
