Personalize your plastic lawn furniture to add color to your yard.

Are the dog days of summer taking their toll on your plastic lawn furniture? Breath new life into it with a fresh coat of paint. It is a quick and easy way to freshen up tired lawn furniture and add a pop of color to your yard.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lawn furniture
  • Spray paint designed for plastics
  1. Step 1

Clean the furniture that will be painted. Scrub old furniture with mild soap and water. A scrub brush may be necessary if the furniture is textured. Even new furniture will need to be washed down to ensure the paint adheres properly. Refer to the instructions on the label for your specific paint.

  2. Step 2

Once the furniture is completely dry, apply the paint by holding the can about 10 inches from the surface and spray in even, overlapping strokes. It is better to apply several thin coats to avoid pooling and drips. Paint all the surfaces of the furniture, including sides and the bottom, to get a professional look.

  3. Step 3

Let the paint dry completely, then apply a second coat. Make sure to follow the manufacturer instructions for best results. Older, sun-damaged furniture seems to absorb the paint somewhat, so you may need to apply an additional coat to get the look you want. I used 3 cans and put two coats on all surfaces (including underneath).

  4. Step 4

Pour a Long Island Ice Tea and relax; your refurbished furniture is ready to enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Work in a well ventilated area.
