This burger made from ground turkey is a healthy alternative to greasy hamburgers made from ground beef.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 1/2 pounds of ground turkey
  • olive oil
  • 1 piece of turkey bacon for each burger
  • 1 whole wheat hamburger bun for each burger
  • 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1 egg
  • mayo, mustard, ketchup
  • red onion
  • shredded cheddar cheese
Step1
In a large mixing bowl, mix the ground turkey with the teriyaki sauce and egg. Stir well. Form large patties.
Step2
In a hot skillet, drizzle a small amount of olive oil and place the patties in the skillet to cook.
Step3
In a small skillet or saucepan, slice the red onions and sauté in olive oil until tender.
Step4
Cook the bacon in the microwave. For the crunchiest bacon, wrap in paper towels and cook for one minute for each piece of bacon.
Step5
When burgers are cooked thoroughly, top with grated cheese and remove skillet from heat. Cheese will melt over hot burgers.
Step6
Dress buns to your liking, add burgers, bacon and onions.

Tips & Warnings

  • Spicy mustard adds a kick to this hamburger without add many more calories.
  • Because ground turkey does not have fat like hamburger meat, it is does not hold together the same. Be careful when flipping turkey burgers.
