In the world we live in today, stress has become an everyday part of life. With the growing demand to take on more reponsibilites, we are left with little to no time to really relax and enjoy life. Here are a few tricks I usually use to try and unwind.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Doesn't it always seem like you morning always starts off crazy. You wake up, jump out of bed and run to the bathroom to do your hair and makeup, get dressed and run out of the house to start our crazy day. About a year ago, I started setting my alarm for a half hour earlier than usual. I would set up my coffee machines timer to brew just as I was getting out of bed. I use this half hour to sip my coffee and either check my personal e-mails(no work e-mail please.remember this is unwinding time) or turn on the tv to catch a little of my favorite morning show. You wouldn't believe how much this helped improve my mood in the mornings when I got to work.
Step2
Start incorporating walks into your daily routine. I used to drive my car to the bus station in the mornings. I decided to start walking so I could get some fresh air and exercise. I also save the 2 bucks a day in parking fees. Fresh air relly does help to improve your mood. Give it a shot.
Step3
Write in a journal. I know your thinking when do I have time but you need to make time. I usually get into bed at night and right a few lines in my journal before I turn out the lights. Write about something you would like to accomplish on the weekend for yourself.
Step4
Meditate. There is a book called "The Relaxation Response" that I absolutely love. It teaches you different breathing techniques to help you relax and destress. If your like me, you probably think there's no way that just breathing can make a difference. It can, it's considered a type of exercise and it has such a calming effect.

Tips & Warnings

  • Even if you can't do all of these things, pick one or 2 every week to accomplish
