How to Make Christmas Popcorn Balls

Make these Delightful popcorn balls Ornaments. Not only are they cute edible Christmas decorations and the kids will love them.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    1 Cup Sugar
    1/3 Cup Corn Syrup
    1/3 Cup Water
    1/4 Cup Butter
    3/4 Teaspoon Salt
    3 Quarts Fresh Popped Popcorn
    5 Drops Red or Green Food Coloring
    Several Dozen Mini Candy Canes Pieces (and a few extra to taste :) )
    Saucepan
    Rubber Gloves for Each Popcorn Baller (can buy at drug store)

  2. Step 2

    Put sugar, syrup, water, butter, and salt in a sauce pan, cook stirring until the sugar is dissolved.

  3. Step 3

    Continue stirring to make sure it doesn’t stick to sides and do such until the mixture starts to boil, then add orange food coloring a minute before to give it the color.

  4. Step 4

    Pour mixture over the popcorn and mix well.

  5. Step 5

    Using the gloves, form popcorn into little balls half the size of your fist. Dispose of gloves afterwards and no worries on sticky hands!

  6. Step 6

    Before mixture cools stick mini candy cane in center of top of popcorn ball to make cute looking ornament. Once cooled the candy should be stuck in the center. Wrap the ball in plastic wrap and tie around the cane with a cute bow made with the ribbon. A great Christmas treat!
