If your spouse died from an accident, the shock is almost unbearable. You didn't have time to plan for the departure. You are probable numb, and speechless. What is there to say. You know that they won't ever be back to talk to you again. It is all over. You have to try to fill the void that is left in your life. Everywhere you look, memories are stirred up, and everything that you do, you probably did it with them before. You need as soon as possible to develop a plan to try and start a new life.

Things You'll Need:

  • Exercise program.
  • Join a church if you haven't.
  • Join a social group.
  • If you don't work, find a job.
  • Take up a class for fun.
  • Take up dancing.
  • Try painting.
  1. Step 1

    If you are religious, read your Bible, it can be a great comfort at a time like this, losing you love one. Attend as many church functions where people are friendly and out going. Go to Sunday School, where you are forced to read and study the week before. The reason for religious activities is to renew your faith.

  2. Step 2

    If you are a good dancer, seek out your local community college for dancing classes ballroom, jazz, ballet, square dancing, etc. You need to force yourself to being active. Don't sit around and cry, it won't help. Do something about your loss, go to a singles club, or to a mixed group of people. Don't over indulge in drinking. Go to plays, or to the theatre, or church musicals.

  3. Step 3

    If you are a scholar, then enroll in a special class for taking a subject that will enhance your job or life. You will meet other people in the class with similar interest. Don't sit home alone.

  4. Step 4

    There are people who need babysitting service, or caregiver for older adults. Get involved with this type of service. Find clubs that with help you get over your loss.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't sit in the house for days, get out and window shop.
  • Go to the mall and walk around for exercise and give yourself the needed leg exercise.
  • Go to a park and sit and read, and watch the animals.
  • Volunteer at your local Red Cross, or other social agency.
  • Volunteer for other agencies in your area, or schools.
  • Don't get involved with another person right away, it may lead to further trouble.
  • Get up and clean your house, instead of sitting around.
  • Don't overeat every day.
  • Don't drink alcohol everyday.
