Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
-
Sun glasses
-
Safety glasses
-
Eye doctor
-
Allergy medications
Step1
Go to your eye doctor annually. It is very important that everyone visit the eye doctor each year. Even if your vision is perfect, there could still be problems with the health of your eyes. An eye doctor will be able to check everything out and if something is wrong, start treatment. The sooner you know about a problem with your eyes the better chance you have of correcting it.
Step2
Irritation from allergies
Treat allergies. If you have seasonal allergies, use medications to keep them under control. Itchy eyes are no fun. When your eyes itch you will automatically want to scratch them. Try not to do that! Scratching or rubbing the eyes can cause red, irritated, and dry places on the eyelids and around the eyes that are very painful. Using allergy medication will help with this problem. Washing the eyes when you wake up each morning is a good idea also.
Step3
Sun glasses
Wear sun glasses. UV rays can damage the eyes just like they do the skin. Keeping your eyes protected from the sun is very important. Get some cool glasses and stay safe.
Step4
Use safety glasses at work. They may not be stylish but they will protect your eyes from flying objects and dust particles. Safety glasses will also protect your eyes should you run into something at work. Even if you don’t like them, wear the glasses when you are working. Your eyes will thank you.
Step5
Stay healthy. Conditions such as diabetes can have a huge impact on eye health. Eating correctly, exercising, and maintaining your weight are the best way to ward off diabetes. They are also the way to control it if you already have the disease. Keeping your blood sugar in control is the best way to keep diabetes from hurting your eyes. Left untreated diabetes can lead to blindness. Take it seriously.
Step6
Contact solution
Handle contact lenses correctly. Never touch your contacts with dirty hands because this can lead to germs and bacteria getting in the eyes. Use refreshing agents to keep the contacts moist throughout the day. Taking dry contacts out can cause them to tear and cut your eye. Wash your hands, change contacts as directed, and keep them moist for good eye health.
Step7
Protect your eyes by doing all of these things and they are sure to allow you to see the beauty around you for many years to come!
