How to make slow cooker chili

This is a great meal that you can get ready in the morning on a weekday of weekend, let it simmer all day, and enjoy.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • ½ tsp ginger
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 ½ tsp dried cilantro
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1 green pepper chopped
  • 2 banana peppers chopped
  • 1 can kidney beans (drained)
  • 1 can red beans (drained)
  • 1 can chili beans (drained)
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 2 small cans of V8 (hot and spicy works great)
  • 1 lb. spicy Italian sausage
  • 2 lbs. ground hamburger
  1. Step 1

    Brown the meat in a large skillet.

  2. Step 2

    Add all other ingredients into a large slow cooker (at least 5qt size). Drain the grease from the meat and then add it to the mix.

  3. Step 3

    Slow cook on low for up to 5 hours or until vegetables are tender.

Tips & Warnings
  • This meal can be made complete with a pan of cornbread on a cold winter evening.
