Finding entry level work is the first step entering the professional world. Graduating from college means that you will have to find your first full time job. By polishing your resume and interviewing skills, you will be ahead of your peers. The first entry level work is hard to find, so send in tons of resumes and you will land a good job.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • computer
  • internet
  • newspaper
  1. Step 1

List all your relevant experiences and skills on the resume. There are many websites that offer resume writing advice. Be sure to google "resume writing help" or something similar. You want to be concise as well; in general, resumes should not exceed one page. The purpose of your resume is to get the hiring manager's attention and interest. In addition to resume, some companies require cover letters. For entry level work, the hiring managers still have a variety of good choices with strong resumes / cover letters that impress them. It is important to take the resume / cover letter part seriously because they will be the ticket for the interview.

  2. Step 2

Search online at monster, career builder and other job websites. And apply to as many as possible (those that you actually meet the minimum requirements). There is an option on those website and allow you to specifically search for entry level work only.

  3. Step 3

www.craigslist.org is another good place for job listings. They have a lot of the local job listings.

  4. Step 4

Another way to find a entry level work is through an staffing agency. The staffing agency pays you so they are taking a portion of your salary. Sometimes, they will also require you to work for a certain time. So, be sure to understand their term before start working for them.

  5. Step 5

A good website for teenagers / first time job seekers is www.myfirstcheck.com. They list entry level work and list them as full time, part time, seasonal or summer jobs. They also have a resume builder for those that does not know how to write a resume well.

  6. Step 6

Newspapers have some good job listings as well. Some companies do not post their ad on the internet. So, it's useful to buy a copy of the local newspaper (ex. LA times, NY times, etc).

  7. Step 7

And if you are good enough to get an interview, be sure to follow up. Send a thank you letter to the hiring manager. And call the human resources department if you don't hear from them for two weeks and ask if they need additional information. Entry level work is your first step and always make sure that first step is a successful one.
