How to Fix Lotus Notes Error: Unable to Initialize VSE Engine
When opening Lotus Notes, it might prompt the following error: "Unable to Initialize VSE Engine." Perform the following to fix the issue at hand. Note: Modification of Notes.ini needed. Make sure you back up first.
Instructions
-
-
1
In order to fix this issue, we need to recreate the Notes.ini file.
First make sure you create a backup of this file, usually located on C:\Notes (Windows OS). -
2
Now that you have backed up the INI file, open thew original and delete everything after the line "DST=1." Save the newly-modified file.
-
-
3
Now, launch Lotus Notes and you will be automatically asked to reconfigure it. Follow the default options, such as browsing for a possible "ID file" (located in C:\Notes\Data, by default).
Please note that depending on your environment (such as an organization or in your home), the setup questions and prompts may vary. Consult your administrator.

Haven't used Lotus Notes since the 80's. I've forgotten most of it. Thanks for the article. -

I used it at my previous job and this error was fairly common, and often hard to fix depending on the mess an ini file had, ha. Thanks for the reading.
