Things You'll Need:
- a soft bristle tooth brush
- toothpaste
- a mirror
-
Step 1
Slow and Easy to Remove Plaque and GermsTake the pressure off! Many people, in an attempt to blast away as much plague and soot from their teeth as possible, will apply a tremendous amount of pressure to their teeth as they brush them. But doing so can be damaging to both your teeth enamel and your sensitive gums. Brush thoroughly but not hard; take the pressure off!
-
Step 2
Alternating the Angle of Your Toothbrush is AdvisedUse the softest tooth brush that you can find. Nothing has the potential to be more scarring and damaging to your sensitive mouth tissue and tooth enamel than an overly hard, rigid toothbrush. The goal of toothbrushing is to remove plaque and germs from your teeth; the goal is not to sandblast your teeth and scour them with the harshest, coarsest toothbrush that you can find.
-
Step 3
Brush in a Circular, Rotating FashionBrush in front of a mirror. Take the time to brush in front of a mirror and pay special attention to the places that your tooth brush reaches. When brushing, preferably using a circular motion around the gumline, your toothbrush should GENTLY cover all the exposed areas of your teeth - front, back, sides, e.t.c. By brushing in front of a mirror, you can note any areas that might need extra attention and adjust your brushing technique accordingly.
-
Step 4
Gently Scrub Your Back TeethPay special attention to the back teeth. Bacteria just love to hang out towards the back of the mouth, where food has a tendency to wedge itself in between the large molars. When brushing, spend a little extra time on these back teeth.
