    Instructions

      • 1

Hold the knife in your right hand (reverse if you are left handed), with the side of the knife perpendicular to the floor, and the blade away from you. This is how you will initially hold the knife when preparing to use this type of knife sharpener.

      • 2

Place the tip of the knife on the sharpening stone, holding the knife in one hand, and carefully placing your finger tips along the non-blade side of the knife's flat side, that is facing you. This is a manual knife sharpener.

      • 3

Hold the edge against the stone at a 20 degree angle. The sharp edge will remain on the stone, while the spine of the knife is lifted at the 20 degree angle.

      • 4

Draw the blade over the stone, keeping even pressure on the knife.

      • 5

Draw across the stone until you reach the heel of the knife's blade. Keep pressure on the knife the entire time.
