How to make heart healthy Tofu Turkey Burgers

This is a great way to make Tofu Turkey Burgers. These are heart healthy and very flavorful.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1lb ground turkey breast ¼ cup sun dried tomatoes chopped 2 medium size jalapeños seeded and chopped 1 medium golden delicious apple chopped with or without skin 6 oz firm Tofu chopped or crumble
  1. Step 1

    1. Wash your hands. Good hand hygiene is always important while cooking.
    2. Combine all ingredients into a medium size mixing bowl with hands and form into eight equal size patties.
    3. There are a few ways you can prepare the patties.

    For Burgers
    1. Drizzle extra virgin olive oil into a skillet and cook the burgers on a medium heat for six to eight minutes on each side.
    2. Put the burger on a bun and add your favorite toppers.

  2. Step 2

    For Hungry Hoboes
    1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
    2. Tear heavy duty foil into eight pieces to be made into packets. The length of your foil will depend upon how full you fill it.
    3. Place one patty in the center of the foil with your favorite chopped vegetables. You can use mushrooms, onions, green peppers, potatoes or whatever sounds good to you. Make your veggies about an inch and half in size.

  3. Step 3

    4. Add 1 tbsp of butter, ¼ cup of water and salt and pepper to taste. Form your foil into a packet around the filling.
    5. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 35-40 min.
    6. Use hot pads or mitts to empty out contents of foil onto plates and enjoy.
