Learn how to effectively organize recipes to make meal planning easier and in the process enjoy new and exciting meals.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Recipe Book with clear pocket sleeves and tabbed dividers.
  • Internet
  • Recipe Magazines
  • Scissors
  • A few hours of your time
  1. Step 1

Gather all your recipe magazines such as Taste of Home, Cooking For Two, and others. Go through them and cut out with your scissors recipes that make your mouth water. Tip: Avoid meals that have ingredients you have never heard off; you will most likely never attempt to make them.

  2. Step 2

Search distinctively for recipes that have cut-out marks and also include the picture of the meal or dessert. These recipes help encourage your appetite and desire to make them.

  3. Step 3

Go to www.Foodnetwork.com and www.Tasteofhome.com, or others like them, and search for new and exciting recipes. After finding recipes that tantalize your taste buds, click on them and select the 4x6 view of the recipe. This will allow you to print out the recipe along with the photo in the perfect size for placing into your recipe book.

  4. Step 4

After gathering several recipes it is time to organize and place them into your recipe book. Arrange your cut-out recipes by organizing them into different categories. Start by separating your appetizers from your meals and then deserts. Appetizers can be immediately placed in front of your recipe book by sliding the recipe cut-outs in clear plastic sleeves.

  5. Step 5

Next arrange your meals even further by sorting them into beef, chicken, pork, fish, pasta, etc. This will allow you to find specific recipes much easier in the future. Then place your recipes into your recipes book with the same type of meals together. Place tabbed pages in between each meal type and label them with the "Beef", "Fish" etc.

  6. Step 6

Finish off your book by adding desert recipes in the back portion of your recipe book. All that is left is to search through your recipe book and pick out seven new recipes for the week ahead. Remember to choose different recipes each week to help keep your meals new and exciting.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose recipes that you have never tried before or have a new twist to old ones.
  • Choose recipes that list ingredients you are familiar with. Most people never get around to picking up and trying that strange new ingredient in their meals.
  • Every month take time to go through your recipe book and toss out recipes that you found you might not have cared for and replace with a new recipe. In time you will have created a recipe book filled with good tasting recipes that everyone in your family enjoys.
