Toilet paper crafts don't fall over, which makes them ideal for creating people. This craft is great for getting kids in the Christmas spirit by using the toilet paper roll to create an upright Santa. Kids can make and display the Santa on their mantels or add a ribbon in the back to make their craft an ornament for the Christmas tree.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Wrap a piece of red construction paper around your toilet paper roll. Then cut it to fit the toilet paper roll. Now glue it in place. This is the base of your Santa. Everything else will go on top of it.

  2. Step 2

Draw an oval face shape on a piece of beige construction paper. Cut out a small circle from the beige and paste in on the oval face where the nose belongs.

  3. Step 3

Finish the face by cutting out two small circles from some black construction paper. Glue those two circles to the face where the eyes should go. Pull your cotton balls apart and glue them down the sides of the face and as a beard. Then take two pieces and twist them to form a mustache like in the image. Glue them under the nose and outward. You won't need to create a mouth for the Santa unless you want to.

  4. Step 4

Paste the head on the top of the toilet paper roll.

  5. Step 5

Cut out a strip of black construction paper. Don't make the strip wide. Glue it around the middle of the toilet paper roll as Santa's belt.

  6. Step 6

Cut out two mittens from white construction paper and paste one to each side of the Santa for his hands. Also cut out three small round circles from the white to use as buttons for Santa's coat. Paste them in place.

  7. Step 7

Create Santa's hat. Cut out a triangle shape with your red construction paper. Cut out a round ball from the white as the tip for the triangle hat. Cut out a rectangle shape, but round off the edges for the bottom fluff of the hat. This too should be white. Now glue them together.

  8. Step 8

Glue the bottom part of the hat to Santa's head. This will stick up over the toilet paper roll and that is fine.

  9. Step 9

Allow the glue to dry and then display.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make a loop out of a piece of ribbon and glue the tips to the back of the Santa. This makes the Santa an ornament to be hung on the tree.
  • Create a tall Santa by using a paper towel roll instead of a toilet paper roll.
