Finding a semicircle's diameter is a simple calculation.

Math is not a subject of which many people have fond memories. But it is, at times, easier than it would appear. If you were told to find the perimeter of a semicircle, it may sound challenging, but it really isn't. It can be done easily in just a few short steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Find the diameter of the full circle. It's understood that you're only working with half of a circle, but that's OK. The diameter is the longest straight line you can draw across the circle through its center. Once you've found the diameter, you can easily calculate the perimeter.

    • 2

Take the information you have for the diameter of the circle and multiply it by pi (the value of which is, in its truncated form, 3.14). This will give you the perimeter of the full circle.

    • 3

Divide whatever figure you got in Step 2 by two. This will give you the length of the semicircle's curved side.

    • 4

Add the diameter of the circle to the length of the semicircle's curved side. This will give you the perimeter of the semicircle.
