Transition a Wardrobe From Summer to Fall

With the change of seasons comes a change in wardrobe as the warm summer weather fades. But you don't need to buy a whole new wardrobe each season. Instead, you can use some of your versatile pieces from summer and transition them into your fall wardrobe.

From Quick Guide: Updating Your Fall Wardrobe
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Layer your light sweaters. The light knit sweater that you wear on cool summer evenings or as a beach cover-up can be an essential piece in your fall wardrobe. Layer sweaters over turtlenecks as the cooler weather sets in.

  2. Step 2

Stick with the maxi dress. One of the most popular looks of the summer is the long maxi dress for daytime. All you need to do is add a shawl or wrap to your long summer dresses.

  3. Step 3

Wear your floral fashions. Normally floral tops, skirts and other garments are reserved for spring and summer. Pair floral pieces with fall colors such as burnt orange, dark green and chocolate brown.

  4. Step 4

Keep wearing your mini dress all year long. A short dress can be worn in the fall and winter by pairing it with dark tights and knee-high boots for a trendy look.

  5. Step 5

Add the right accessories. Any summer outfit can be warmed up with the right accessories. Add a wool scarf in purple, burgundy or grey for fall. A darker handbag can also completely change the look of an outfit. Look for handbags with lots of texture, such as feathers, fur, studs and buckles.
