How to Make Pumpkin Treat Bags From Tissue Paper
Halloween is one of the best times to stretch yourself creatively and to have a little fun. You've probably worked hard on the plans for your big Halloween bash, so give your guests their candy treats wrapped in something cuter than those boring, predictable store-bought bags. Mini tissue paper pumpkins are the perfect vehicle for just about any treat you'd like to hand out. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Orange tissue paper
- 10- or 13-inch round cake pan for template
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Assorted candies
- Invisible tape
- Green floral tape
- White all-purpose glue
- Artificial leaves
- Dark orange fine line marker (optional)
Instructions
-
-
1
Separate two or three sheets of orange tissue paper from the packaged stack.
-
2
Place the round cake pan upside down in the center of the tissue paper.
-
-
3
Trace lightly around the cake pan with the pencil. Remove the pan from the paper to reveal a perfect penciled circle.
-
4
Cut through all the sheets of tissue paper along the pencil line to make a big orange circle.
-
5
Place your treats in the very center of the circle. About a half cup is perfect for plump pumpkins if you've used a 10-inch pan to trace the circles.
-
6
Gather the tissue paper up around the candy, collecting the paper at the top in a tight twist.
-
7
Wrap the very base of the gathered twist tightly with invisible tape. Just go around the base once.
-
8
Tear off a 6-inch piece of the floral tape.
-
9
Twirl the floral tape lengthwise, winding it into a vine for the first 4 inches and leaving the last 2 inches flat.
-
10
Lay the flat end of the vine across the tip of the gathered part of the tissue paper, letting the vine fall down one side of the pumpkin and the rest of the tape on the other side. This is simply to cover up the orange tip of the gathered paper.
-
11
Wrap more floral tape around the gathered part of the tissue paper and the end of the vine. Wrap in a spiral to cover all the gathered part, turning it into a cute pumpkin stem.
-
12
Curl the vine around your finger to make a nice spiral twist, just like a real pumpkin vine.
-
13
Glue an artificial leaf to the base of the stem.
-
14
Draw vertical lines down the pumpkin with a dark orange marker to make it even more realistic.

Tips & Warnings
Take into consideration the treats you'll be wrapping when deciding how many sheets to use. Light, round candies like gumballs will be fine with two sheets, but heavier treats like fudge or items in wrappers with pointy corners may need three or more.
Remember that floral tape works like plastic wrap; you have to stretch it to enable it to stick to itself.
Pressing too hard with the pencil, especially if it's nice and sharp, may rip the paper.
