How to Make a Balloon Spider Halloween Craft
Balloon spiders are inexpensive Halloween decorations that can be made with just a couple minutes of your time. These creepy crafts can sit on shelves or dangle above walkways from the ceiling. Wherever you choose display them, either inside or out, they will be sure to give your home a spooky look this Halloween. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Large black balloons
- 4 pipe cleaners (preferably black)
- String
- Tape
- White craft paint
- Paint brushes
Instructions
-

1
Inflate a large black balloon about 2/3 full. You want the balloon to remain fairly squishy. Tie it closed with a knot.
-
2
Twist a small circle into the bottom of the balloon, where the knot is. Hold the balloon like you are going to wring out a wet towel, and twist each hand in the opposite direction. Once you have a circle formed, twist it around a couple of times and it will stay intact.

-
3
Tie a piece of string around the "neck" of the spider that you have just formed, to keep the small circle of the head from unraveling.
-
4
Place the center of one pipe cleaner over the neck of the spider, and twist it around the neck one time. This will leave you with two equal parts hanging on each side of the spider's body.
-
5
Complete the step above three more times to form the remaining six legs of the spider. Then shape the pipe cleaners into the form of legs.
-
6
Paint eyes, fangs and any other designs you like onto the spider with white craft paint and paintbrushes.
-
7
Tie a string around the neck of the spider to hang it up with, if you want to dangle it from the ceiling or other object.

Use caution when twisting the balloon to form the head of your spider, so that you do not pop it.
