How to Find New York City's Best Steakhouses

New York City is an absolutely incredible restaurant city. There is everything that you could possibly ever want to eat, whether you have a hankering for high-end French cuisine or an all-American classic diner. There are also some wonderful steakhouses for meat lovers in the city. Here are some of your best options if you'd like a classic New York steak or filet mignon.

  1. Step 1

    Dine at BLT Prime on East 22nd Street in Gramercy. The decor of this steakhouse is wonderful. The minute you step inside, you walk past a massive meat locker. The service is excellent, with a knowledgeable and friendly staff who know their steak. Not only is the steak here juicy and tantalizing, so are the breads and salads. The entrees are perfectly cooked and well-seasoned, making BLT Prime a delight for steak lovers.

  2. Step 2

    Go to Sparks Steakhouse on East 46th Street in Midtown East. Sparks is the place to go if you like tender, juicy, succulent steaks--and what steak eater doesn't? The ambiance of this restaurant is elegant and clean. The staff is hospitable and efficient. There's also a great seafood selection available for those who aren't big steak fans. Be sure to try the dry-aged sirloin steak--it's marvelous!

  3. Step 3

    Visit Keens Steakhouse on West 36th Street in Murray Hill. Keens has the atmosphere and menu of your quintessential steakhouse. Dark lighting and elegant decor augment a great selection of both steak and seafood favorites. Many customers consider Keens to be the best steakhouse in the entire city, and after taking your first bite of the tender filet mignon served here, you'll see why.

  4. Step 4

    Eat at Strip House on East 12th Street in Greenwich Village. Strip House serves great steaks in a traditional, classic steakhouse setting. Be sure to try the creamed spinach, as is it wondrous and goes perfectly with the entrees served here. The steaks are tender, juicy and have a lovely, slightly buttery taste to them. The filet mignon is the best item on the menu- be sure to try it.

  5. Step 5

    Visit Dylan Prime on Laight Street in Tribeca. Dylan Prime is an underrated yet exceptional Tribeca steakhouse. The service here is prompt and absolutely impeccable, and the decor is classic and beautiful. The ribeye is delicious, and the mashed potatoes that accompany many of the entrees are absolutely creamy and amazing. With its cozy atmosphere and fantastic menu, Dylan Prime is one of the finest steakhouses in the city.

Tips & Warnings
  • There are a lot of great steakhouses on the Upper East Side, particularly along 2nd Avenue.
