Find the perfect card
Find the perfect card

The giving of a birthday gift is a tradition that is marked by the tireless search for the perfect card to accompany the gift. There exists a perfect birthday card for everyone, but the large range of selections can easily become overwhelming to search through. However, as long as ample time is allowed to search for a card, it is only a matter of thinning out all of the possible options until that perfect card is found.

From Quick Guide: Birthday Cards for Beginners
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Locate a local merchant that sells a wide variety of birthday cards.

  2. Step 2

Go to the store and note the genres of birthday cards available.

  3. Step 3

Choose a specific genre to peruse and possibly buy from. To do this, consider the recipient of the card. For example, would he or she prefer a humorous card or a sincere, heartfelt message?

  4. Step 4

Pick through the cards and carry any possibilities along with you as you search for more.

  5. Step 5

Sift through the cards you picked out and select the top two or three. Return the others to their original locations.

  6. Step 6

Decide which of the remaining cards best reflects your feelings in its message. In a sense, the card speaks for you, so pick the one that says what you want to say.

  7. Step 7

Purchase the card. Do not forget the appropriate envelope.

Tips & Warnings
  • Go with your instinct when choosing a card. If it seems like the person receiving the card will like it, it is probably worth considering.
  • If the person has any interests you know of, try to reflect them in your card. For example, if the person loves dogs, a dog-themed card may be appropriate.
  • Be careful not to choose humorous cards for everyone. Some relationships may be better served by a sincere card and some may actually call for humor.
  • Be careful not to pick a card that says something that you would not normally say. The card should express your birthday wishes from your heart.
