The iPod is a great way to keep all your music at your fingertips, ready for you anytime night or day. But when you have up to 10,000 songs available to you at the touch of a button, you need a way to organize! Learn how to create a playlist in iTunes, the program that coordinates with your iPod, and be able to access what you want to listen to right now quickly and easily.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open iTunes. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, you can do so on Apple’s website for free.

  2. Step 2

Find the list of currently created playlists on the left side of your program. They should be listed downwards in a gray shaded bar that runs top to bottom on the left side of the program window

  3. Step 3

Click on the “+” sign in the bottom left corner of the program.

  4. Step 4

Locate the “New Playlist” that has been created under the Playlist menu on the left side of the screen.

  5. Step 5

Double click over the “New Playlist” to rename it to whatever you like. You can also right click over it and select “Rename.”

  6. Step 6

Return to the music library by selecting “Library” at the top of the left side bar. Organize the songs in your library by name, artist, length or any other way to want to find your songs for your playlist. You may also search for specific songs by typing in information into the search window at the top right of the window.

  7. Step 7

Select the song you want to add to the playlist and right-click over it. Scroll down to the option “Add to Playlist” and, from the side menu that pops out, select your newly created playlist. You could also hold down your mouse over the selected track and drag and drop it into the name of the playlist on the left side bar.

  8. Step 8

Select more than one song at a time by selecting the first song and then holding down the CTRL key while you select other songs. To add them to the playlist, you may follow the directions in the previous step, making sure you keep the CTRL button held down. The songs will be added to your playlist and you are good to go.
