1
Remove the sliding panel first when replacing aluminum frame windows. This panel should move freely if it's working properly. If the window is stuck, use a screwdriver to pry the window open. To remove the panel, lift it out of the track. If this doesn't work, inspect the panel to see if there are any obstructions.

If there is an obstruction such as a rubber stopper or other mechanism, pry it out using a screwdriver. Once you remove the obstruction, the window panel should be easy to remove. After removing the sliding panel, take out the screen behind it. The screen should pop out easily.

3
Remove the remaining stationary panel next. To do so, remove the aluminum center bar so the panel will no longer be stationary. This bar is kept in place by screws. Remove the screws. If the bar is stuck, use a hammer and lightly tap it until it is loose enough to remove.

4
Put on safety gloves and glasses when removing the stationary window. Lay a canvas tarp outside underneath the window to collect any falling glass. Unlike the sliding window, the stationary window may have to be removed using additional force, which can cause the glass to crack. After removing the center bar, slide the stationary window out. If the glass won't move, look for obstructions such as putty, screws or other materials that are holding the glass in place.

5
Remove any obstructions using a screwdriver, putty knife or hammer. If the window cracks, allow it to fall onto the tarp outside.
-
6
Use a reciprocating saw to remove the bottom portion of the aluminum center bar as well as the aluminum bottom track.
