Homemade Scented Pinecones
-
1
Gather 2 lbs. of scented pinecones. To get pinecones to fully open, place them on a cookie sheet lined with foil. Bake for 20 minutes at 250 degrees. Let cool.
-
2
Lay newspaper out on a table. When the pinecones have cooled, spread them out on the paper. Dip a small paintbrush in cinnamon oil and coat each section of the cone. If you are using pure cinnamon oil, dilute the oil with a light vegetable oil in a half and half mixture.

Tips & Warnings
To make the pinecones presentable as gifts or as craft sale items, cut a large square of mesh or netted fabric. Set pinecones in the center. Gather the edges together around the pinecones, and secure with a festive ribbon and a cinnamon stick.
Experiment with other scents and potpourris as desired.
Straight cinnamon oil can be caustic. It can burn and cause damage to painted surfaces. If you buy pure oil, be sure to dilute it.
