How to Make a Shabby Chic Jewelry Holder

Shabby chic is a design style that mixes light colors with an antique design flair. If your home is decorated in shabby chic, implementing this jewelry holder into your decor will add a finishing touch while making the piece useful at the same time. Made from a used rake that you can find around the house, this jewelry holder can also be displayed anywhere in your boudoir, adding a touch of whimsy to the room.

Things You'll Need

• Used wooden-handled rake with all of the teeth intact
• Sandpaper
• Pastel paint
• Paint brush
• Small plastic dish

Instructions

1. Lightly sand the wooden handle of the rake in a up and down motion.

2. Open up the can of paint and pour a small amount into a small plastic dish.

3. Place the sanded rake on a table along with the dish of paint and the paint brush, and paint the handle of the rake. Apply two coats of paint. Allow to dry for 24 hours.

4. Lightly sand areas of the rake to give it a shabby chic look. Make the wood from the rake show through the paint to give it a well-worn look.

5. Hang the rake on the wall, metal side up with the teeth facing toward you. Add your necklaces, bracelets and rings to the teeth of the rake to display your jewelry.

• Hang the jewelry holder away from heavy traffic areas and places where the door swings open and closed.

• Hang vintage or mismatched antique jewelry on the jewelry holder to create a display or decor piece.
