Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Hold the ukulele body with the right arm by placing it over the front and holding underneath with the right hand. Rest the ukulele neck in the left hand between the left thumb and left index finger near the string spacer. Keep the left thumb directly behind the second bar on the ukulele neck.

  2. Step 2

Move the left index finger to the second bar between the first and second frets. Place the tip of the left index finger on the "E" string which is the second to the bottom. Use the left index finger to also hold down the "A" or bottom string on the second bar between the first and second frets.

  3. Step 3

Place the tip of the left middle finger on the "G" or top string that is located on the third bar between the second and third frets. Also using the left middle finger, hold down the "C" string which is directly under the "G" string on the third bar. Relax the left ring finger and left pinky finger without touching any frets or strings.

Hold all assigned strings down firmly without touching any frets or unassigned strings. Keep the left thumb pressed firmly behind the neck of the ukulele and inline with the first bar. Using the right hand, strum all of the strings near the center of the Ukulele body to hear the Bmaj7 chord.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ukulele strings on the soprano, concert and tenor are assigned G, C, E, and A from top to bottom.
  • A “bar” is the space located between the frets.
  • Frets are metal strips that are used to separate the bars on the neck of the ukulele.
  • Keeping the fingers on the bar and away from the frets or any unassigned strings will help to produce a clear sound of the Bmaj7 chord.
