Instead of spending money on a trick or treat bucket, you can use a pillow case found in your home. If you have some old pillow cases you don't need anymore, then you can jazz them up and make them the ultimate trick or treat bags. You can even make the pillow cases match your Halloween costume. Don't forget the obvious advantage to using your pillow case to collect the candy: It's bigger and can hold more treats.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

On a piece of paper, design how you want your pillow case to turn out. This step will prevent you from making any mistakes. It will also give you a chance to change your mind by using an eraser. You can't erase paint on a pillow case. When creating your design, you should think about your costume and how your pillow case trick or treat bag can compliment it. For example, if you plan on being a princess, you can use a pink pillow case and design a castle or a dragon.

  2. Step 2

Place a piece of cardboard inside your pillow case so you can work on one side of it with a flat surface.

  3. Step 3

Use your fabric paint to create any scenes you want. abric paint works best when you outline, but don't completely color in. Wait for the fabric paint to dry before continuing.

  4. Step 4

Fill in your outlines with appropriate colored fabrics. You can glue them on with a hot glue gun.

  5. Step 5

Add jewels with a Bedazzler. You can use stick-on gems, but you will need to use the hot glue gun to get them to stick. If you want to create a spider web, you can glue some yarn on to your pillow case with a hot glue gun. If you want to create a cloud for a princess scene, you can hot glue some cotton balls on to your pillow case. Be creative and take inventory of the items in your house that you can use. Buttons make good eyes or tires for a car. Create flowers with some crumbled tissue paper and a pipe cleaner.

  6. Step 6

Add any final touches. If you have any little toy spiders or miniature pumpkins, glue them around the edges. Give your pillow case some time to dry and then use it to trick or treat on Halloween night.

Tips & Warnings
  • Get a few friends together and have a trick or treat bag decoration party. Friends are great for giving some ideas on a theme you could use on your bag.
  • Young children shouldn't use hot glue guns. Hot glue can burn your skin.
  • Lay out some newspaper on your workspace to protect the surfaces.
